Eiffel Tower Paintings

Eiffel Tower Paintings The Eiffel Tower is a wrought iron lattice tower in Paris. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower. Over the years, the Eiffel Tower has been the site of numerous high-profile stunts, ceremonial events and even scientific experiments. Now one of the most recognizable structures on the planet, the Eiffel Tower underwent a major facelift in 1986 and is repainted every seven years. It welcomes more visitors than any other paid monument in the world, an estimated seven million people per year. Some five hundred employees are responsible for its daily operations, working in its restaurants, manning its elevators, ensuring its security and directing the eager crowds flocking the tower’s platforms to enjoy panoramic views of the City of Lights. After sunset, the Eiffel tower sparkles and bathes in golden light to welcome its night time visitors and offers a breathtaking view of the Paris lights. Today, the Eiffel Tower has become a global icon of France, which an iron tower is built on the Champ de Mars beside the River Seine in Paris. The tower can sway 6 to 7cm in the wind and due to the thermal expansion of the metal on the side facing the sun, depending upon the ambient temperature, the top of the tower may shift away from the sun by up to 18cm. Although most people have the idea that the Eiffel Tower can be seen from almost anywhere in Paris, this is actually not the case, due to restrictions in place that limit the height of most buildings to only a few storey so there are only a few of the taller buildings that get a clear view of the tower. More than 250 million people have visited the tower since it was completed in 1889. The tower is the most-visited paid monument in the world. Averages of 25,000 people ascend the tower every day which can result in long queues.
